EDDM Production Process

We know than an Every Door Direct Mail® campaign starts with an idea and ends with EDDM® postcards in mailboxes, but what happens in-between? When planning an EDDM® project or researching if it is right for you, it's helpful to know the different steps involved. At Excel Printing and Mailing, we have a proven production process that each of our customers can expect.

Start with an Idea

Start by telling us about yourself and your ideas. Call, email, or live chat through our website to tell us what you're hoping to accomplish with an EDDM® project. Don't worry if you don't have a specific goal or ideal in mind. Tell us about your business and we'll guide the conversation in a way that builds a strong foundation for a successful EDDM® campaign, with no hassle and no pressure.

Choose your EDDM® Carrier Routes

Second, choose your carrier routes. Every ZIP code is divided into carrier routes. By picking these routes, you determine what addresses will receive your EDDM® postcards. One of our EDDM® specialists can research potential routes to target and send you a map to aid in your decision-making process. Once we know the specific carrier routes to target, we'll be able to calculate an exact quantity of EDDM® postcards you'll need to cover those routes. We'll send you an accurate, all-inclusive quote for this quantity that includes postage.

Design Your Postcards

Next, create or send us your design. We offer 3 options for you to choose from:

Print, Bundle and Deliver

Once you give us the final approval on the design, we'll add the appropriate EDDM® and permit information to your artwork and send it to the press. Once printed, we'll bundle your EDDM® postcards by carrier route and deliver them to the destination post offices, along with the paperwork that is required by the USPS.

Finally, the post office with deliver each EDDM® postcard to its intended mailbox. After the post office receives the EDDM® postcard, the USPS estimates 3 days for an average delivery time, although during busy periods, it can be up to 5 days.

At Excel Printing and Mailing, we focus on efficiency in our production process because we value your time as well as our own. That's why you'll have a single point of contact to guide you each step of the way. This means no dropped balls and no repeating yourself. Just honest communication and a smooth production process.
